The Armageddon

Seventy first Republic day celebrated across this beautiful nation,
Lil did we know how bad would be our condition.
Kids would play, teens would sway,
Suddenly they all seem to have gone away.
Smiles and laughter used to light up the place,
And now all we can see is an empty space!

After every weekend, we used to dread a Monday,
Always looked forward to a holiday or a fun-day.
Children hated going to school,
Now staying at home is not so cool.
Tantrums and nakhras is what we threw,
And now we realize this when the pandemic grew!

Celebrations and ceremonies are no longer celebrated,
Stay at home is now necessitated.
Exploitation of this beautiful planet is what we did,
In retaliation we heard the Earth forbid.
Flora and fauna are having a good time,
We hear the pretty birds chirp and chime.

Yet we have instances of galavanting retards,
I wonder how they don't fear getting scarred.
Danger, at times, comes uninvited,
It'll grab you and nab you once you are sighted.

Remember, we're children of our Lord,
Why not come together and hit the same chord?
Fight for food, fight for shelter,
Let's stay home and not run helter-skelter.

Caste, creed, religion are all defined by man,
Regardless of who you are, you belong to the same clan!
Love is all we need; and love is all we have to offer,
It could be a rich bugger or it could be a chauffeur.

It's said - Tough times don't last, tough people do,
Soon we all will together say 'Goodbye Covid, we fought as ONE to get rid of you'!
